The Guastatoya Farmers supply The Body Shop with our Community Trade Aloe Vera. They are based in the Guastatoya region of central Guatemala. We have been trading with them since 2006 and working with them everybody benefits from this trading relationship; customers get an amazing range of high performance soothing and moisturising skincare products; a marginalised community in Guatemala benefits from fair trade; and school children in a rural region of Guatemala benefit from education materials provided thanks to trading with The Body Shop, while The Body Shop provides great products in a socially-responsible manner. Ghana based suppler, Kuapa Kokoo supply The Body Shop with our Community Trade Cocoa beans. We have been trading with them since 1996. For centuries the women of Ghana have used cocoa butter to moisturise and cool their skin in the African heat. Since 1996, The Body Shop has been buying cocoa beans from the Kuapa Kokoo company in Ghana, a fair trade cooperative with over 50,000 small-scale farmers. The money made by the cooperative enables the development of community projects such as schools and village wells in addition to providing the farmers with income to support their families.
